Where did Hitty and Miss Hickory begin?

Miss Hickory is a story written in 1946 by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey that won the Newberry Award in Excellence for American children's literature in 1947. It was introduced as a book to read in Hittygirls.com and a group was formed that is devoted to Miss Hickory and her woodland friends.

I am a moderator there and know that they have several tutorials there too.

Hitty is a real doll found by Rachel Field and Dorothy P. Lathrop in an antique store. they purchased her and decided to write a story about her travels in the hundred years since she was carved from that piece of Ash wood. Together, they wrote "Hitty Her First Hundred Years" . It also won a Newberry Award.
